We can see through the history of mankind how Man has developed different tools for different activities. Mining is also no exception. Mining activities picked up momentum with the industrial revolution as the requirement of mankind could not be served by only growing, cultivating and hunting. As of today most of our daily requirements and utilities have a mining background. With advent of plastics there was apparent threat to the requirement of metals, but nevertheless the demand for metals and minerals are increasing steadily.
To feed the huge requirement of minerals there is matching requirement of machinery required for mining activities. Today nobody can think of manually carrying out mining activities and competing with the international players. This page has been designed keeping in the mind of increasing need of the machinery in the mining industry and to close the gap of knowledge requirement about maintaining and operating those machines.
The users in mining industry felt that there is no forum to receive or dissipate information regarding the equipments they are using and their functioning. Thus the problems being faced in the field and solutions obtained by experiments are not available to all the users. Thus there are repeated efforts for same problem. Since technology is changing at a very fast rate, it is not possible for everyone to learn from scratch. Rather we would like to give the basic information of all the systems involved in mining equipments, on which basis further experience can be obtained and can be shared with the Mining community. Thus proper and maximum utilisation of equipments and human resources can be made. This will help in overall growth of the mining industry resulting in a more competent and competitive environment.
This page will be beneficial to anyone involved with the mining industry. Be it a new entrant for overall knowledge of the equipments or a technician to get details of equipment subsystems or a Mine planner to design the equipment requirement for required production targets.
At present the Overview of Indian Industry gives an idea of the present Mining Machinery scenario in India with a mention of major players in this field. The Heavy Earth Moving Machinery section presently gives a brief description of major Opencast mining equipments and their subsystems. Short animations of the equipments are also shown to indicate how the equipment functions. In Machinery Selection section a excel worksheet is given where inputs regarding mining parameters can be entered and details about equipment requirement with estimated investment requirement can be obtained. The parameters can also be changed to see the variations and get the best combination.
