THE WATER (PREVENTION AND CONTROL OF POLLUTION) RULES, 1975

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 63 of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 (6 of 1974) the Central Government after consultation with Central Board for the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution, made the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Rules-1975. These Rules prohibit the use of a stream or well for the disposal of polluting material etc., restrict new outlet and new discharge in the natural water course without obtaining No Objection Certificate from the concerned state pollution control board, after completing the required formalities.
