THE AIR (PREVENTION AND CONTROL OF POLLUTION) RULES – 1982
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 53 of Air Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 (14 of 1981) the Central Government in consultation with the Central Board for the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution made the air (prevention and control of pollution) rules-1982. The Rules came into force from 18 th November-1982. These rules are almost similar to the water (prevention and control of pollution) rules-1975. Actually, Central Board (CPCB) is common both for Air and Water pollution. The Air rules restrict the establishment or operation of an industrial plant, without the previous consent of the State Pollution Control Board, in an air pollution control area, notified by the board.
