With advent of plastics there was apparent threat to the requirement of metals, but nevertheless the demand for metals and minerals are increasing steadily.
To feed the huge requirement of minerals there is matching requirement of machinery required for mining activities. Today nobody can think of manually carrying out mining activities and competing with the international players. At present the Overview of Indian Industry gives an idea of the present Mining Machinery scenario in India with a mention of major players in this field. The Heavy Earth Moving Machinery section presently gives a brief description of major Opencast mining equipments and their subsystems. Short animations of the equipments are also shown to indicate how the equipment functions. In Machinery Selection section a excel worksheet is given where inputs regarding mining parameters can be entered and details about equipment requirement with estimated investment requirement can be obtained.
